Wisej 3 beta continues, Licensing Model Guide and Events planning (BASTA & VS Live)
Wisej 3 Beta Happy New Year! We hope you've enjoyed the holiday season. The release of Wisej 3 Beta (now supporting .NET 6 with Linux & Mac!) brought us a lot of attention. If you haven't had the chance to look at the new version yet, make sure to grab your copy and play around with the great set of new features! All relevant information including FAQ and Guidelines for Dual Target setup, Visual Studio configuration, and Docker Support has been published here: https://docs.wisej.com/wisej-3-beta/ What’s required to upgrade from Wisej 2.5 to Wisej 3? Not much: most projects and code should work after changing the references to Wisej 3. However, with the new .NET 6 templates the build process for multi-target projects has changed. Make sure to check our tutorial at: https://docs.wisej.com/wisej-3-beta/.net-core/dual-target Wisej 3 is estimated to be officially released on March 31st, 2022. New Licensing Model Guide published Together with the estimated release of Wisej 3, a new license model comes into effect for Wisej. Here are some highlights of the new terms & conditions: - Free Community level licenses with limited commercial use - New server editions supporting high load and containerized environments - Switch to a fully subscription-based model - New support options - Additional services, bug warranties, and new source code privileges You can find our new pricing and license information here: https://docs.wisej.com/license Planned events Despite the challenging times, we plan to attend a number of events throughout 2022 in US and Germany. Wisej 3 Beta, Community Edition and Pricing Changes
This year has been a challenging one for everyone around the world - including our team. At the same time, it has been one of the most exciting and successful periods in our history. Let’s look at some of the highlights.

Wisej@BASTA Fall 2020: German .NET Developer Conference in Hybrid Mode
Seriously? Running a developer event during COVID-19 times? With people hardly traveling at all it sounded too good to be true. BASTA is one of the leading developer conferences in Germany for the .NET community. As a sponsor for BASTA Fall in Mainz 2020, we were curious to see how a hybrid conference with online and onsite attendees works out. It's been a challenging year for all of us. Such an event in these difficult times is totally different to what we attended for many years. Just about 10% of the typical number of attendees was onsite and many more participants joined online watching talks and sessions in real-time. The Swapcard platform allowed raising questions through a chat system. All tracks were streamed live and recorded for later playback. Our team contributed two sessions to the conference program: - Migrating Business Applications from Desktop to Web with Wisej Günter Hofmann (CEO of our partner Fecher) gave a 60-minute introduction presenting how easy it is to modernize and web-enable applications with Wisej. https://basta.net/user-interface/migrieren-oder-neuentwickeln-mit-komplexen-anwendungen-vom-desktop-ins-web/ - Bulid Complex Application with Wisej: Rapid and Cross-platform The second talk was presented by Thomas Althammer (founding partner of ITG), who build a small CRM application with Wisej and added features live on stage. He integrated Google Maps, a ChartJS graph, QR-code scanning and deployed that application live as a desktop app, as a Windows service, on IIS, on Azure, on Android with Wisej mobile and gave a sneak preview of Wisej 3 running on a Raspberry Pi with Linux... all in 60 minutes. https://basta.net/web-development/komplexe-web-anwendungen-mit-net-core-realisieren-rapid-und-cross-plattform-mit-wisej/ We chatted with several remote participants that would have loved to come to Mainz. Watching the videos at home or in the office is just not like being at a conference, exhanging thoughts and ideas, and learning more about the newest hypes and discussions. If you are interested to see our slides or watch the videos, please drop us a line and we share the recordings with you. Despite all odds: It was great to be there and we look forward to seeing you all again next year! Many thanks to the BASTA team! They did a great job and presented a well-prepared concept so that we felt safe at all times.

Looking back at BASTA 2020 Spring: Wisej presented at Developer Conference in Frankfurt, Germany
The BASTA conference series is one of the major events for .NET developers in Europe. BASTA Spring took place in Frankfurt (Germany) in February 25th to 27th 2020. More than 650 developers visited this event and we say “Thank you” for the many talks at our booth. We were overwhelmed by the feedback we got. Our local partners in Germany, fecher GmbH (www.fecher.eu) and CC Consult/Integra (www.2c-quality.de/) were present at our booth and introduced their services. Desktop to Web Migration One core aspect of the Wisej technology stack is our approach for an easy Desktop to Web migration. We had a session in the conference program held by Thomas Althammer from our management team. Many of the 60 attendees confirmed that they are still focused on Windows development and that they find it difficult to make the transition to a web-based version of their software. Wisej has a unique approach for enterprise modernization and we shared lessons learned from a number of different projects to take .NET based desktop applications to the web. Rapid Web Development for Business Apps Another primary use case for Wisej is enterprise-scale web application development. We had the chance to talk to many developers at our booth throughout the three days in Frankfurt and explain the advantages of our technology stack. In times of skilled labor shortage productivity gains receive an enormous focus. Many appreciated the flexibility and efficiency when using Wisej for web development. We’ll be back! There is another BASTA in fall this year (September 22nd – 24th, 2020) in Mainz. We look forward to meeting you there!
